THE GOOD folk at Coole Swan say they’re always
prepared to go the extra mile to make their delicious drink available to
you. Delicious drink? That depends on your taste. But there must be
something good in the latest Irish cream liquor just out. Coole Swan is flying
off the shelves in places like Waitrose in Britain and Tesco in Ireland. Up to now Bailey’s Irish Cream had had the
market in this sort of drink by the throat, but Coole Swan aims to change all
that. The makers point out to me that Coole Swan is crafted with fresh double
cream from Ireland’s richest dairylands, which is combined with the softest,
most rounded Single Malt Irish Whiskey.
Unlike any other Irish Cream drink, they go on, real
chocolate is gently melted into the cream resulting in a smooth,
melt-in-the-mouth experience. The drink is further complimented by the rich, dark,
bittersweet cocoa from the Cote d’Ivoire and the delicate infusions of finest
Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
I’m far too hardened a hack to be fooled by all that
myself. But Coole Swan’s Margaret O’Reilly, who hails from Navan, Co Meath, was
making a sterling effort to promote the brand at the Taste of Ireland event
this month in Selfridges on London’s Oxford Street.
And you know what? Those Coole Swan cocktails are
really rather good.
